The Undoing

Season One. If you have not watched this show, you may want to give it a try. It’s on HBO; and is not a very long season.

It starts out with Grace, a well known prominent doctor who you would think had the perfect life. She is married to Jonathan, who is an oncologist. They have a son, Henry, who is the only child.

Grace meets Elena at a fund raiser meeting. Elena shocks the entire group of women when she does the unthinkable; breast feeds her baby while sitting at the table during the meeting. The other women in the group gasp like it was a sin, but Grace acts like it’s not a big deal, even though she looked uncomfortable. Elena does not fit in with the group and the women try to act nice to her.

From there, Elena does a lot of inappropriate things in front of Grace. Grace has several encounters with Elena; and does not understand why Elena is so obsessed with her. Grace complains to Jonathan but he does not take it seriously.

It’s the night of the fundraiser party and everyone is there. Something happens that night that will change Grace’s for life forever. All the twist and turns of the show will keep you on edge until you figure out what really happened.

Grey’s Anatomy

Season Seventeen

Episode One – Four. The first few episodes of Grey’s Anatomy takes us to the reality of the Covid 19 pandemic. I’m so glad that they decided to address this issue. It’s so real to see how the hospital admission has changed; how the staff is effected by our new normal.

Meredith is working non stop helping hospital patients. Her kids are with Amelia while she works. Meredith catches Covid and is the hospital on a respirator. She starts having dreams of Derek and George which makes you think she is on the verge of dying. She needs to pick a new person that would make decisions for her when she can’t. Alex is that person but is out of the country, so she chooses Dr. Weber. She gets really bad and looses consciousness. Her friends are fighting to get her in a new trial but at first, Dr. Weber refuses but laters gives in when he sees her not waking up.

Other members of the cast continue to face the realities of Covid 19 and patients dying. They are dealing with having to tell the families that their loved ones have died. They are also afraid of catching the virus themselves. The show is looking into the seriousness of wearing a mask, social distancing and the care the patients have to get once they encounter the virus.

Great season so far and will be worth watching.

The Crown

Season Four

This is one of Netflix’s original shows. This is where we meet Princess Diana and Margaret Thatcher in the first few episode. Very interesting women.

Meeting Diana was not what I had expected. Prince Charles is not the nicest person and didn’t even want to marry her. In all the movies we have seen, it made it look like they were so in love. Well, this show reveals he only marries her because of his father and mother. His family thought she would be the best pick for him over Camilla. It was a rushed proposal and took Diana by surprise. She knows nothing about him and he knows nothing about her. Diana’s secret is also revealed. The family thinks they will grow to love and care for each other over time. Charles is only thinking of Camilla.

Margaret Thatcher is not what I imagined either. She is a very strict to the book person. She is only interested in work and getting everything right. The best part about her so far was when she fired her entire cabinet. She hired new fresh faces from the old angry men she had when she first got the job. She brought them in her office one by one and fired them. She has a soft spot for her son Mark over her daughter, Carol. Mark went missing in the Sahara Desert for six days and she was devastated as most mothers would be. The two are twins but she says out loud the Mark is her favorite. She sees her daughter as weak and wants her to toughen up.

So far, those are the two characters that are interesting. I’m sure more Princes and Princesses will be introduced in this season. Try the show; start from Season One.

This is Us

Season Five of this show began on October 27th. What a way to bring back the season, good job!! They waste no time digging into the COVID 19 pandemic and racial tensions in the country today.

Randall is the key to start to the season. They are living in the start of the pandemic with Beth checking Randall at the door with hand sanitizer, and Randall having to take his clothes off before entering the townhome. Randall states later that she has turned in Dr. Fauci; great compliment. They watch the release of the video of George Floyd and are like most devastated by the outcome. On top of that, it’s the Big Three 40th birthday coming up; and Randall has declined to go. Randall and Kevin are still not speaking because of the exchange they had at the end of season four. Kate does her best to reach out to Randall and feels rejected.

Rebecca gets lost and it brings all the Pearson children together. Kate lets Randall know that their mother is missing and he goes off to the cabin. When he gets there, Rebecca has been found and resting. Randall is very cold towards Kate and especially Kevin. Randall goes to see his mother to make sure she is fine; discovers that a medicine she is taking made her have a relapses. After figuring out Rebecca’s problem, Randall turns to leave. He is ready to get back to his family. I don’t think at this moment he considers the Pearsons as his family; just my opinion. Kate is devastated that Randall is leaving and tries to talk to him. She is upset about everything going on in the world with the racism and does not know what to do. Randall turns to to her and ask her what her concerns are. He states that she was never concerned before and that the family never talked about racism. Randall reveals that he carried that burden alone. Kate is so upset and uncomfortable and doesn’t know what to say. Randall says that he is “exhausted and is done trying to make this family feel comfortable.” Those are powerful words. It needed to be said. I may even use that line in the future.

Kevin is the most clueless of all. He is so wrapped up in himself and the pregnant Madison that he does not even know what’s going on in the world. He tries to talk to Randall but it was all about him and the new babies coming. Randall does not spend a lot of time talking to him. They will need to work out their problems this season.

This was part one of a two parts. Everyone needs to watch this episode because it hits home for a lot of people. I commend NBC for taking on the issues of COVID 19 and race. And they are even wearing mask!!

Greenleaf

I finished the final season of Greenleaf and it was touching to say the least. From the beginning of the show, Grace has gone through a lot with her mother. She could never figure out why her mother was so hard on her.

Well in the final season, it’s revealed that the Bishop James is not her real father. Being the good man he is, James excepts Grace as his daughter which took a lot of stress off her. She discovered she has a new half brother, Aaron.

We also discover things about Grace’s long lost son, AJ. Grace had given him up when he was a baby and he is having a hard time with that. When she found AJ after being released from prison, he was not happy to see her. AJ has other secrets also. You will have to watch and find out. I did notice that the same luggage Grace came with in season one was the same luggage she left with in season five. That was a nice touch or I’m I the only one that noticed that.

In the end, the family becomes stronger and realize that it’s okay to need each other. Cherish your family, it’s all you have to depend on.

The Spanish Princess – S1

I kind of stumbled on this show and it turned out to be a win. Catherine of Aragon is the Princess of Spain. She was sent to England at the beginning of the show to marry the future prince of England, Arthur. She arrives in England on a rainy day leaving behind the warm climate of Spain. From the start, she was not happy with the surroundings. It was cold and lifeless compared to bright surroundings of Spain

The entire first season is about her marrying a prince so she can become the Queen of England one day. She goes through so much with the royal family, especially the mother of the King, who does not think she is fit and that Catherine brings a curse to the kingdom.

Catherine does have her own secrets she is keeping from the King in her pursuit to get married to the son Harry after the death of Arthur. She is determined and would do everything in her power.

If you want a quick watch and is looking for something new, this may be the show for you. It’s not mind boggling with minimum effort to watch so don’t expect much.

Game of Thrones

Season Eight

Now you talk about a show to watch; this one should be on your list. It was not a boring show at all and I never fell asleep on it; which I tend to do at times. My Stark family came out on top!!

The first part of the season was centered around the Great War with the dead. It was a long bloody war. No help from Queen Cersei’s soldiers of course. But she gets taken care of later in the season. After all the killings with the war, Winterfell had to honor the loved ones that died.

Jon and Daenerys are to go to King’s Landing to make peace, but Daenerys has a different plan in mind. She retaliates against King’s Landing and demands her dragon to burn the entire city down even the innocent were killed. At the end Jon had to make a decision to kill Daenerys. He is jailed and later sent back to leading the Wildlings north of the wall.

With Queen Cersei gone, a new king is needed for King’s Landing and in the end Bran is picked. Sansa becomes the Queen in the North. Arya leaves on an adventure to sail around the world. In the end, the Stark family is saved. The good always wins in the end. No matter what bad came their way, they were able to overcome it.

I read reviews that everyone thinks the season was a disappointment and it was rushed. It was both of those things; but the message I got out of it was evil never wins. Hey, the season received 32 nominations so it’s worth watching and forming your own opinion. Hope you enjoy the show.

Game of Thrones

Season Seven

The Stark family had come together at last. It was a exciting time for me. Watching them get to know each other again and excepting the person they have become through the experiences and growing up they had to endure alone.

Jon Snow goes to Dragonstone to meet with Queen Daenerys in an attempt to get her to fight the war against King’s Knight army with him. He ends up falling in love with her; seems like, at first glance. He also knows she has dragon glass weaponry and wants to see if she will let him take some. He shows her the cave the dragon glass is kept in; and Daenerys sees all the writing on the walls in the caves. She agrees to let Jon take some with him. He also wants Queen Cersei of King’s landing to help with the war. So he with a group of his allies come together to take one of the ice zombies alive; takes it the King’s Landing to show Cersei that it’s real. She agrees to help; but I don’t trust she will keep her promise.

Bran Stark arrives to Winterfell and Sansa is happy to see him but is freaked out with his mannerism. He is just creepy acting and know one knows that he died and his body is occupied by the Three Eyed Raven, who is the all seeing, all knowing figure in Westerosi myths. He has had a lot of visions being the Third Eyed Raven; and knew a lot of events that happened in the past. He knows something about Jon Snow that will change his life forever.

Sansa Stark takes over Winterfell while Jon is at Dragonstone to get help. She was against his trip there but later sees that it was a good idea. She is reunited with Bran and Arya and is so happy to have them home. Sansa is becoming a stronger leader and able to lead Winterfell. She has Littlefinger to look out for. He is trying separate her and Arya with schemes. But the two sisters are smarter than him team up to execute Littlefinger. He seemed to always be a troublemaker.

Arya Stark is my favorite character. She took out Lord Walder first wiped out the entire House of Frey for the revenge of her mother and brother. I didn’t see that coming. She was on her way to King’s Landing when she learned that Jon was the King of Winterfell and that Sansa was there. Things fall into place for her when she gets there and she is at home.

A lot of interesting things happen in this season and I enjoyed it. The Starks children forever dedicated to each other. Winterfell is back even without their parents and brother to guide them. They have the Great War with the King’s Knight army. It was very intense which is all I can describe it as. The groups fought hard to defeat the knights; and it was getting to where they were giving up. Then Arya saves the day and kills the leader of the group and all the knights fall dead. Wow. It was epic. I cheered for their win and sadden to see all the friends they lost.

The best news from this season was that Jon Snow learned he is not a bastard son but the true heir to the Iron Thorne. He learned this news from his best friend and Bran. The next season hopefully will be as good as this season continuing to display good versus evil.

Game of Thrones

Season Six

The Stark family is getting closer to being back together. I’m so happy!

Jon Snow is dead. He comes back and saved by Melisandre, the lady in the red cape. I think she is a little strange too. Sansa and Jon are finally back together. They were so happy to see each other alive; so touching. They start to plan how they will take back Winterfell. They have a battle in episode nine – Battle of the Bastards. Jon Snow against Ramsay Bolton, two bastard sons. It was of course gruesome for me. Jon Snow and his men finally win with the help of Peter and his men. The only bad thing was the Starks loose their brother Rickon. Ramsey uses him as a pawn to get back at Jon.

Sansa is starting to get her urge to be strong. Ramsay did bad things to Sansa but she did survive. Once they won back Winterfell, Ramsay is put in a cage tied up. Sansa goes to visit him; and of course Ramsay talks mean to her. Sansa lets his dogs in his cage. Ramsay gets happy thinking the dogs will attack Sansa, but they turn on Ramsay and start feeding on him. That’s finally over. I just knew he would grab and pull her in the cage; but she was strong and the revenge was good to her. She left smiling.

Arya is still with that strange assassin group; and at the beginning of the season she is still blind but gets her eyesight back. She finishes her training, but soon plans her escape to Westeros. She is caught and almost killed by the group but she jumps in the river to hide. They later find her, but she still gets away. She is determined to finish her revenge list of people to take out. She ends up at the Twins in Westeros, disguises herself and kills Lord Frey.

Bran becomes the Third Eye Raven and continues to have his visions of the past. He does have an important vision of his father, Ned fighting to get inside the Tower of Joy where his sister is giving birth to baby Jon Stark. Ned’s sister gives the baby over to Ned before she dies; making Ned promise to raise Jon as his son. He escapes the White Walkers with the help of his uncle Benjen Stark. Bran makes it to the Wall to find Jon, but Jon is already gone. I tell you, Bran really gets around to be in a wheel chair.

So, the Stark Family is finally starting to get together. I can’t wait to see what the next season brings me.

Game of Thrones

Season Five

This season does not talk about the Stark family as much as I hoped. It’s mostly about the Lannisters who are completely an evil family. The Stark family is still not back together, no big surprise.

Jon becomes the big guy as Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. He has a good heart and wants to help everyone, including the Wildlings. He goes on mission to save the Wildlings but loses men of the Night Watch. He is then brutally murder by several of his men. Now talk about disgraceful. All they had to do was have a sit down talk with Jon instead of setting him up.

Peter takes Sansa to Winterfell, where she is to marry Ramsey in an attempt to rebuild the castle. Ramsey is very brutal to her and she finally escapes on a quest to find her half brother, Jon. I thought she was already married to Tyrion; do they not believe in divorce? Anyway.

Arya is on a strange mission. She gets involved with some assassins who are training her to do their dirty work. She has no clue at first what is going on but soon learns; gets rebellious and looses her eye sight. Now what is going on at this place. All a know is that Arya needs to leave; but she thinks she has no where else to go. She is doing what she thinks is best right now. Arya, get out of there!!!

Another season gone and again my Stark family is not together. This happens every season so far. Things have to get better. Good things have to start happening to the Stark family. I am determined to keep watching in hopes of a change of circumstances.
