The Handmaid’s Tale

Season Four Episode Season Five

June is not satisfied with the group they are currently with; and wants to leave to look for more survivors. She is disappointed that they are not Mayday. Janine likes the group, especially Steven, the group leader. June just does not think they are a good group to be with; they are not willing to take the risk she is use to. Janine wants to stay with the group and start a future.

Aunt Lydia is not the leader anymore and wants her position back. There are new recruits she wants to get her hands on them. She does not need to get another group to damage. She goes to see Commander Lawrence. Aunt Lydia lets him know that she knows things about him and that he was involved with Commander Winslow’s disappearance. Commander Lawrence agrees to help her if she gives him damaging information about other commanders. She agrees but wants June to herself when caught. Aunt Lydia, you will not get your hands on June but Commander Lawrence agrees with her. What is she gonna try and do? June will take her down next time.

Commander Lawrences wants to get his seat back with the council, he meets with them and offers a ceasefire in Chicago, Texas and Florida. Commander Lawrence and Nick are still trying to find June and figures out she may be in Chicago. Later the commanders are having a meeting and Commander Lawrence is back. The council considers Commander Lawrence’s proposal and decide to bomb Chicago to give them a warning before issuing a ceasefire. They put Nick in charge. Nick tries to get out of it, but it does not. He knows he has to organize the bombing and also try to keep June safe.

Back in Chicago, June says her goodbyes to Janine and heads off. June is annoyed that Janine will not join her, but she knows Janine is content and she has to find something better. They have a tearful goodbye. June walks through the destroyed streets and it gets very quite. She thinks someone is following her and it turns out to be Janine. Janine, why all the drama? Janine tells June the “handmaids must stick together.”

June and Janine hear planes coming try to run but are caught in the crossfire. They both go down; it’s the bombs that Nick sent in. June comes to and starts to look for Janine but can’t find her. She looks through all the smoke and turns around and sees Moira. What a great scene. They are both in disbelief.

Great episode! It’s really starting to get good. The soundtrack is also great and fits in with the scenes.

The Handmaid’s Tale

Season Four Episode Four

June and Janine are on a mission to escape Gilead and they board a train tanker filled with milk. Yes milk. They had no idea what was in the tanker when they jumped in. Now why would a train have a tanker full of milk, I have not idea. Does June really know the train is headed to Chicago?

After jumping into the milk, June tries to find a drain to let the milk out. Does the tanker have a drain hole? Well she finds one and all the milk spills out. Janine has a meltdown about the entire destination into a war zone, but June tries to calm her down. Janine further gets mad and wants June to stop treating her like a child and be truthful with her. June finally tells her that she did turn them in to Gilead Commander to save her daughter. Janine blames June for the death of Alma and Brianna. June tells Janine that she should have left her a long time ago. After a few more words, they are both quiet during the ride both unsure what to say.

Rita goes to see Serena who request to see her. Rita founds out that Serena is pregnant and is happy for her. Rita is a good person, because after all Serena has put her through, she was still kind and nice to her. Not sure if I would have done the same. Serena is talking on and on about how lucky and happy she is; and assumes that Rita is a friend who will help her raise the baby. Well, Rita has other plans. She visits Fred and gives him the picture of the sonogram, and tells him that it is no longer her job. Go Rita!

The train gets attacked and it crashes. June hears all the guns and looks out of the tanker to see a group gathering up supplies as the guardian lay dead. June attempts to talk to one of the group members by asking if they could join them. After some convincing, the group leader allows June and Janine to join them. Of course, it comes with a cost as the leader of the group wants more from the handmaids. Well June can’t do it. She tells Janine who later goes through with it. Now they stay with the group. I’m getting a bad feeling about this group.

This episode concentrates on June and Janine getting further away from Boston. Gilead is still trying to take over Chicago with resistance from the people there. I have so many questions. Will June get out of Gilead? Will June get caught again? Will June look for Mayday?

The Handmaid’s Tale

Season Four, Episode Three

This episode starts out with June being tortured by a man who works for Gilead. He is really brutal and scary looking. They try everything to get June to talk and it only takes one thing to get her spill the beans – Hannah.

Aunt Lydia decides to send all the girls to a breeding colony where they will be in the fields by day and handmaids at night but not assigned to a Commander. What in the world is this mess. I thought the handmaids had to be clean and pure like for the commanders. Anyway. They are on their way, she says her goodbyes to Nick with a long kiss, really. They are riding in a van with Aunt Lydia; get to a crossing rail and will have to wait for the train to go by. In the meantime, June and girls are thinking of a way to escape. They do. They start running. The guardian starts shooting at them and kills two of the girls.

June and Janine make it over the railroad track before the train come. Alma and Brianna are running fast but do not make it across; they are killed. It was tragic. Why did it happen? Now the group is just June and Janine.

What a sad episode. June as always had played Nick with that kiss. She knows he will continue to keep her safe. Now he will have to look for her again. I hope he does not find her this time. Maybe with less handmaids to keep up with, June and Janine can move faster. And they need to get out of those red clothes and get some regular normal clothes. They really have to get out of the place. And to think it’s Boston and some part in Pennsylvania before it became Gilead.

The Handmaid’s Tale

Season Four, Episode Two

June and the group seem to be getting along well at the farm; they are enjoying the freedom they have found. But like June said “they are not really free; Gilead is looking for them.”

The guardian eventually show up at the fame looking for the group. they question the Keys and must have gone back to report them. Mrs. Keys did sound a little shaky. Besides, she only a child.

So June set out to find a safe house for the group. She goes the the local Jezebels to get help from one of the ladies. June goes back to the farm with her plan. In the meantime, Mrs. Keys teaches her how to make poison. June takes a jar of the poison back to Jezebels and puts in the liquor container. She instructs the same lady to give the drink to the Commanders to make them sick or better yet die. She heads back to the farm with her plan in motion. When June gets back to the farm, it doesn’t feel right to her. June is faced with Nick and gets caught. I think Nick had something to do with it; I don’t trust him.

June is handcuffed and taken to some building and is faced with Aunt Lydia again. Talk about bad luck. She is put in a room and tortured because she will not five up information about where the group is.

In Canada. Moira is dealing with the new children that have arrived; trying to found their closest relatives. Some of the children are missing their parents in Gilead because that’s all they know. She gets help from Rita with one little boy. Rita seems to be still a little nervous about her new life; it’s understandable. Luke does not know how to feel. He’s mad. He’s scared. He’s worried for his June. Did it ever dawn on him that she is not leaving Hannah behind in Gilead? She told him that on the tape. Really, Luke.

Wow, this season is moving fast! I’m excited!!

The Handmaid’s Tale

Season Four Episode One

The first episode back did not disappoint me. June is as brave as she always have been. That’s what trying to get your child back that was taken from you look like. She is going through some changes to get there, but hopefully she will find Hanna.

June and her friends make it to a farm outside of Boston and are staying with a Commander and his young wife, Mrs. Keys. Mrs. Keys looks to be 14 years or younger and it’s sad since she was forced to marry this man. Mrs. Keys is a little scary at first, but June will get her in line.

June is still healing from her gunshot wound and is in constant pain. But that does not stop her from making plans to keep moving. The farm seems safe for now, but Gilead is still looking for her. She and her friends will not be safe until they reach Canada.

Commander Joseph is put in prison for helping June. Aunt Lydia is beat up by the Guardians. Rita is trying to adjust to her new life in Canada. Fred and Serena are told the June got 86 children out of Gilead. And to make it more interesting, Serena finds out she is pregnant. Now, what is that all about? Thought she could not get pregnant. So much is going on!

Way to start a season!!!

Queen of the South

Season Five

Teresa Mendoza is back. She is still in New Orleans; and I’m surprised after all the drama she went through with the judge. Also, Tony was killed last season. James is back and Pote does not trust him. I think Teresa will give him a chance.

Teresa in the first two episodes she sets out to get more business and goes to New York City. She is not trusting the Russian group right now, and looking for someone else to move her product. She arranges to meet with the Dominicans; and it doesn’t go so well. Her Russian friends are feeling left out after they learn of her new business partners.

Teresa is as tough as ever and I’m looking forward to see what she will do this season. She wants to build a legitimate business; and she needs clean money to do it. Let’s see where the road takes her. I’m thinking James will be a big help for her. She will always have Pote watching her back. Life of a Queen Pin.

Season 5, Episode 13 Brotherly Love

This is the episode I have been waiting for. Randall and Kevin come together to talk about issues. I can see Kevin’s view both ways of seeing and ignoring the problems that Randall had growing up. Not being in Randall’s shoes, his family had no idea what he was going through. Granted his father did his best. Even with trying to make Randall feel special, it wasn’t the same.

Not just brothers coming together, but brothers of different races coming together. What a powerful episode. I was kind of nervous at first and didn’t think the two would come together. They did and it was needed, especially for Randall. I was impressed that Kevin admits to not doing anything to help Randall.

Watch the episode and enjoy it just as much as I did. It will have you a little teary eyed but worth it. More families and friends need to be having these conversations now.

This is Us

Episode 11

Kevin and Madison get a surprise visit from Uncle Nick. This is a man who has not been on a plane since he was in the war. So why is he there?

The entire episode was about Uncle Nick. I guess they wanted us to get to know him better. He is not really one of my favorite characters, so the spend the entire episode on him was a little disappointing. They did throw in some scenes with Kevin in them also. Kevin is surprised that he came.

We did learn that Nick lived with his parents after the war. He did fall in love with a girl who wanted him to go to California but he decided at the last minute not to go.

Not sure yet what really happened between him and Jack. Watch the show yourself, you may like it.

Episode 10

The Pearsons navigate through their day to day lives.

Randall tries to stay out the way at home and retreats to the outside patio. Beth’s Mom comes to visit and puts Beth in an intense mood. Beth thinks her Mother is watching her every move to criticize. We all get like that at one point with our parents. Come to find our her Mother is not judging her at all, but likes the noise and the conflicts among the kids. Her Mother lives alone and the only noise she hears is the outside noises. Beth feels bad about that and invites her Mother it stay with them a little longer.

Kate and Toby are getting worried about their finances. Toby lost his job due to the pandemic and looking for one is very stressful for him. Kate is trying to be supportive and positive about the situation. Kate offers to get a part time job and Toby at first does not want her to do that. They go to Kevin’s for dinner and Toby does not want him to know about his job lost. Kevin finds out by accident and offers them money which Toby refuses. The dinner becomes awkward and Toby later apologizes to Kevin.

Kevin just wants all of his family to live together on a compound. He wants to try to create the family relationships he had as a child, not aware that everything was not always rosy. Kevin thinks that since he has all this money, that he can just busy things for his sister but gets push back. Kevin seems happy with his new life with Madison and the twins; but I’m thinking he is just playing a role. I could be wrong. Let’s wait and see.

Uncle Nicky comes to town unexpectedly, so we will see why he left his secluded trailer.

This is Us

The Big Three are going through their own individual issues. They continue to deal with their ups and downs separately mostly because of the pandemic. Randall and Kevin are still at odds. Kate is trying to stay out of it.

Kevin has flashbacks of his father when he begins to lift weights and his struggle to be the best. He remembers going on a road trip with this Dad to a football training camp. Kevin gets a roll in a movie and he stresses about being the best. The movie crew is moved to Vancouver; and Kevin has to decide if he will continue with it. Madison will be due soon and Kevin afraid he would miss the birth.

Kate has flashbacks of her pregnancy and afraid to tell Toby her abortion. She later goes to meet Marc to confront him about the way he he treated her; which then explains a lot to do with her weight gain. Kate and Toby’s birth mother is due soon and they are preparing for the new arrival.

Randal is still in defense of what is happening in the world. He is accidentally on livestream partially undress, and it goes viral. A Vietnamese man sees the video and contacts Randal stating he knew his birth mother. Randall and Beth agree to meet him in New Orleans. He learns about his birth mother and is more at ease.
