Average Joe

Season One Episode One

If you want something lighthearted and will keep you hooked on what will happen next, this is your show. You can found it on BET Plus.

Joe is an average guy who gets mixed up the Russian mob. Joe’s father has just died from a fire and goes to the office to clean it up. The mob shows up at his tow truck shop looking for money that the father owes them. They ask Joe for the combination to the safe and Joe says he does not know it. They proceed to break his fingers.

The guys that are sent from the Russian mob are not what you would expect. When I think of the mob, it’s scary to look at them. They look like average guys to me. Joe gets in a scuffle with the guys and ends up killing them. Yes, average Joe does this.

Joe has a friend Leon that shows up because he sees Joe’s truck parked in front of the shop. Leon looks through the window and sees these two guys attacking Joe. But when Leon finally gets into the office, he sees the dead bodies. Now they must figure out what to do.

Joe proceeds to tell Leon he does know the combination to the safe. He opens it and finds 100,000 dollars and a key. Now the two really don’t know what to do. They have all this money and two dead bodies. They decide to keep the money and Joe gives Leon 20% to keep him quiet.

Angela, Joe’s wife, has been calling him and she can’t get through. She calls Joe’s friend, Touch, who also happens to be a police officer. Touch reassures Angela that he is going to go find Joe. Touch passes by the the shop and sees Joe’s truck and Leon’s car. Touch goes in and sees the two dead bodies and the money. Now Touch says he must call it in; but is also convince by Joe and Leon not to call the cops and gets 20% of the money.

Now at this point, the men are trying to come up with this plan to get rid of the bodies; and to take Joe to the hospital to get his broken fingers looked at. Touch specifically tells his friends not to mention what had happened to anyone. Not to even mention what their plan is.

Once Joe, Leon and Touch leave the shop, everything goes downhill. Again, if you want to watch a show that doesn’t take a lot of thought, this is your show. And I didn’t even mention everything else that happens in the episode. Enjoy.

Season Two Episode Three

This episode did not have as much content as I would have like.

Carrie must record an audiobook which is something she never had to do in the past. Her editor wants her voice and not an actor, so Carrie is struggling with having to live through the worst part of her life again. She tries everything she can to get out of it but in the end, she gets it done. Carrie is also becoming close with her downstairs neighbor.

Miranda is going through it with Che especially after she found out they are still married. Think back – she gave Miranda a hard time when she was married to Steve. Now look at her. Che may be regretting moving to Hollywood and thinks her show will not get picked up. The two are having a time but hopefully will work it out. Then comes the call from Miranda’s son and he is all upset. Miranda books a flight and is headed back to NYC.

Charlotte and Lisa found themselves on a school list written by one of the students. They are both excited hoping they are on this list to wanting a boost to their self-esteem. With this new list, the school thinks they should work on the sex education program as innocent as the list is.

Seema gets robbed and is very upset about her handbag going missing. She is not concerned about her wallet or money, just the bag. She goes through a withdrawal stage with Carrie to help her. Seema comforts Carrie during her moments she has about John being gone. You must wonder if Seema is taking the place of Samantha.

Hopefully the show is building up to more interesting things to talk about. The next episode must be better.

Season Two Episode Two

This episode is about all the women continuing to juggle their everyday life. The women are busy but not a lot of substance to this episode.

Carrie is still doing her podcast and have been asked by one of the producers to do a commercial about a feminine product. Carrie reads the script and can’t get herself to do the commercial. Now as we all know, podcast do not exist without paid commercials. Carrie gets Franklyn to help her rewrite the commercial, but she realizes that it’s not what he does best.

Miranda is still jobless in California and looking to make herself busy. She joins a community beach clean-up activity group to help her meet new people. In the process of the clean-up, Miranda loses her phone. She can’t call an Uber to come pick her up. She does not know Che’s phone number, so she calls Carrie to get the number. Che sends someone to pick her up. And the person who picks her up is not who he seems to be.

Charlotte is trying to teach Lily about the price of money. Lily wants money to buy a keyboard, but Charlotte and Harry put their foot down. They want Lily to learn to earn her own money. Well, Lily does just that and sells her clothes to get the money. Charlotte has a fit and goes to the store to try and buy the clothes back. Charlotte is informed that most of them have sold. Hey, she didn’t say how Lily should earn the money.

Seema gets back together with Zed only to later break up with him again. She comes to think that Zed only is dating her so she can become his business partner. At this point, who know. I’m sure in later episodes, we will find out.

Lisa’s mother-in-law is coming to town, and she is horrified. Lisa cannot do anything right in her eyes. Lisa really needs to have a heart to heart with this women. Even Herbert needs to say something to his mother. Comes to found out, he is terrified of her too. Hopefully in upcoming episodes, things will change. Herbert has an incident trying to haul a cab and none of the drivers stop for him. He realized it’s racial motivated and gets upset. Herbert’s mother reminds him that he must remain calm so that he can stay out of jail. And Lisa agrees.

This episode didn’t have a lot of great content, so I’m hoping that the next one will make up for it.

Season Two Episode One

Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte are back for a second season. They are getting ready for a big even at the Met Gala; but getting to the event causes all kinds of problems. The ladies are living normal lives with all the drama that comes with a day-to-day life. And they each have new friends to help them alone the way.

Carrie is still mourning Big, but she has met a new guy, Franklyn, and keeping things casual. Carrie has a podcast now and it’s called ‘Sex in the City.’ She is giving advice to women and is enjoying her newfound adventure. Carrie has not moved from her brownstone apartment, so she must have sold the other one she bought at the end of season one.

Miranda has moved to California to be with her new found love, Che. I’m assuming she has divorced Steve, but they haven’t said anything about that. Miranda is getting use to the different life and spends a lot of time alone because Che is busy filming their new tv pilot. Miranda does learn some new information about Che that she did not know.

Charlotte is moving on with her family drama. She has finally accepted the fact that her daughter is Rock now and this makes life easier at home. Charlotte has planned to take Anthony as her plus one to the Met Gala but founds out that Harry thinks she is going; so, she must give Anthony the bad news. So now Charlotte is caught between best friend and husband as her plus one.

Seema is a friend of Carrie’s who also happened to be her realtor in season one. Seema reminds you of Samantha with her bold and outspoken way. Maybe that’s why Carrie likes her so much. Seema is Carrie’s plus one to the Met Gala. At the last minute Seema has to cancel because of her new man, Zed, who wants her to meet his son. She’s not sure about making things serious with Zed, so later changes her mind about going to the Met Gala.

Lisa is a good friend of Charlotte and is also going to the Met Gala with her husband, Herbert. She is trying to juggle being a wife, mother and businesswomen and does not want her husband’s help. Lisa is so busy juggling everything that she forgets the one thing needed for the Met Gala.

Nya is a friend of Miranda’s, and her husband, Andre Rashad, just went on tour with his band, so she is home alone. She’s also a professor which keeps her busy. At home Nya is stuck watching tv every night; and not wanting to go out to eat alone. Andre really wants a child, and she knows that raising a child is a big responsibility. Nya is not sure if she wants that.

All these women are juggling life as we all know it, but in different ways. We may not have the glamorous life they have but, in the end, life happens. Hope you enjoy the episode.
