The Affair

Season One thru Five

I must say, I thought I would never watch this show. With shows on hiatus right now, I had to find something to watch. I must say, it was a great choice. I could not stop watching to write each season separately.

Noah and Alison. What a pair. They start out meeting for the summer on the island that Noah and his family is visiting for the summer. Noah’s family – his wife Helen and four kids I will say. They are staying at her rich family’s summer house. Noah is a professor and Helen owns a store. They have the lives where they can let the school finish for the kids and spend the entire summer away from home.

Alison is someone who you will have to get to know in the seasons. She is a local from the island and spends her summers working while the rich families have fun. Alison is no stranger to hard work and is a waitress at the local restaurant there. She is married to Cole who has a local ranch and gives lessons to the rich kids. Alison is also a very troubled soul. She and Cole had a lost and have never gotten over it. She spends her entire life trying to correct the mistakes that were made.

Noah is someone who I believe to be honest but makes so many mistakes. He spends his whole life making up for what he has done wrong to his family. You get to know him a lot better after the first episode. He is complex yet simple. He is gentle yet rough.

The entire series is about how families are torn apart by tragedy and no one gets over it. Each season goes through members of the family at are effected by it. Believe me, it is not the life that most of us have and we definitely don’t have the same problems. But looking through the lenses of their lives is refreshing.

In the end, the show comes to a complete circle. What happened in prior generation does effect the future generation in this show. You will see that most things can be solved if the person lets it. Very good writing for the show and you will be pleased with the outcome.
